The article below is based on a survey done in North America, Africa, Europe & Asia. It is no surprise that #communication came out as a top skill. Here is the list of the top 5:
Communication - the bulk of the work of a business analyst is information. Knowing how to package it for who. Customization is the name of the game. Communication should never be a one fits all.
Creative analytical & problem solving skills - all the data collected needs to be analyst properly to help make informed decisions.
Technical skills - you need to have at least basic working knowledge in the sector you are working in.
Interpersonal skills - emotional intelligence, empathy & influencing are essential skills for the business analyst
Modelling / Design skills - in depth business analysis often involves creating a model to better study the envisioned. Depending on the sector you are in this can look very different.
